Revolutionary, right??
I just read an post on PR News where they claimed that because Papa John’s PR Firm was empowering bloggers by calling them out on their mistakes. The story goes that the PR firm is contacting bloggers that apparently misquoted the companies founder and asking them to correct the error. This isn’t something revolutionary. It’s simply good brand management.
Every company that engages clients for brand management should be doing the same thing. Especially for clients as high profile as John Schnatter.
What most people don’t understand is if something shows up enough online it will get into the databases of search engines so it will show up when people search, let’s say “John Schnatter Obamacare.” Plus, if people see the misquotes enough when they perform this keyword search, they start to believe it to be fact.
This is simple SEO. OK, maybe SEO 201, but none the less any PR firm worth anything should understand this.
So kudos to PR firm Sitrick and Co. for doing their job!
