Direct Traffic
Direct Traffic also sometimes called direct navigation, is traffic to a website that results from visitors typing the URL directly into a browser or clicking on a bookmarked link.
This also often happens with Google’s suggestions. So, if you are looking for our company and start typing “blackbird”, Google may suggest blackbirdesolutions.com, this happens particularly if you have already been to the site.
Sometimes Direct Traffic is Not Really Direct Traffic…Um, What?
The Direct Traffic bucket in Google Analytics also works as a default. Often times if something happens or breaks when someone navigates to your site, Google will dump the traffic in the Direct Traffic bucket. This could happen for example if URL Tagging is not properly implemented.
