I just read an article on Forbes.com: Google Gets ‘Smart’. It’s quite interesting Google has created software called PowerMeter that you can view online to monitor your electricity usage. This is a great idea for people that want to monitor how much they are spending on electricity, especially with the new price hikes.

I always get a little nervous when Google enters markets where they will be collecting data. Software like this has a great benefit for consumers, but it also gives Google access to this data too. Maybe it’s just a case of paranoia, but what do they plan to do with that information. What do they have in place to protect consumer’s privacy? Just something to think about…
